| You do not want to grease electrical contacts. Dielectric grease is non-conductive. That makes it an insulator. Clean dry connections are the best. Dielectric grease should be used on the outside of connectors to keep moisture out. It can also be bad for other things in the area such as O-rings and certain types of rubber. Everyone assumes that it is good for direct use on electrical contacts. As an electronic technician for many years I can tell you that there are many puns that float around and one of them is "Die Electric" if you get what I mean. Here is a link to read up on it. [ http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-dielectric-grease.htm ] There are electrically conductive lubricants but these should not be used in things such as electrical connectors where there are multiple contacts or pins in close proximity to each other. They can cause shorts or alter electrical signals. It can also be dangerous to handle if you come into contact with it with your bare hands.
